ATE: “It’s time to move beyond lead baths in wire patenting”

ATE will once again be exhibiting at wire Düsseldorf, scheduled from April 13-17, 2026. The trade show represents a strategic opportunity to meet machine builders and wire producers interested in wire treatment equipment.
Among the new solutions to be presented at the event, particular attention at stand 11/B76 will be given to multi-wire induction patenting systems for steel wire. The latest installations have generated strong interest from customers, both for their advantages in terms of process control and metallurgical quality, and because this technology offers a valid alternative to traditional lead bath cooling systems.
Multi-wire patenting systems: main features
ATE’s systems are specifically designed to process multiple wires of different diameters simultaneously, ensuring the correct austenitizing and maintenance temperatures.
In induction-based multi-wire patenting systems, ATE's technology enables extremely precise control of temperature and cooling parameters — factors that are critical to the quality of the final microstructure. This configuration is part of a gradual transition away from traditional lead baths, which are increasingly subject to regulatory restrictions worldwide.
“Moving beyond lead baths is one of the key challenges for many wire producers,” explains Massimo Borella, Sales Manager at ATE. “Our innovative cooling systems, fully integrated into the lines, feature advanced controls and represent a concrete technological alternative, with clear benefits in terms of operational safety and reduced environmental impact.”
“For wire 2026, we are introducing a dedicated initiative aimed at wire producers looking to invest in new wire patenting equipment. We will offer special commercial terms applicable to agreements finalized following meetings at the fair. We are operating in a complex market environment, and this decision stems from our intention to provide concrete support to industry operators,“ Mr. Borella concludes.
